NEC today announced a new notebook that will hit the Japanese market in the middle of next month and costs $1,600. The main selling point of the VersaPro UltraLite Type VC is its design (which NEC calls “full flat”) and weight: 868 grams. It measures 283×210×25～29.8mm.
The notebook comes with a Celeron 723 CPU (1.2GHz), an Intel GS45 Express chipset, a 12.1-inch WXGA (1,280×800) LCD screen, 1GB of RAM, a 80GB HDD, 4 USB ports, Windows Vista Business as the OS and with a battery life of 12.5 hours.
NEC also offers optional SSD support, WiFi, a different battery and Windows XP Professional as an alternative OS. The release of this model marks the beginning of the 3rd generation of NEC’s line of ultramobile notebooks.
